Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of October 21

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of October 21, 2024. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY /KANOELEHUA AVENUE (ROUTE 11) —

KURTISTOWN

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 11) possible in either direction, between mile post 8 to 10, in the vicinity of Old Volcano Road and Hale Pule Loop, on Monday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Oct. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction, between mile post 58 to 59, on Monday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Oct. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

HONAUNAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction, between mile post 97.2 to 104.7, in the vicinity of Haleili Road and the Filipino Clubhouse Road, on Monday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Oct. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for safety upgrades to the roadway.

HAWAII BELT ROAD/KAWAIHAE ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

HILO TO PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 3 to 9, in the vicinity of Puueo Street and Old Onomea Road, on Monday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Oct. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 5.84 to 5.9 in the vicinity of Enoka Place, on Thursday, Oct. 24 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for bridge maintenance and repairs on Pahoehoe Stream Bridge.

PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 7.29 to 7.31 in the vicinity of Kaieie Road, on Tuesday, Oct. 22 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for bridge maintenance and repairs.

PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 7.78 to 7.81 in the vicinity of Puu Moi Road, on Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for bridge maintenance and repairs.

WAIAKA

Single lane closure on Kawaihae Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 58 to 59, in the vicinity of Ko Uka Street and Haleaha Place, on Monday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Oct. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for tree trimming.

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction, between mile post 6.2 to 10.6, on Monday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Oct. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for application of permanent striping as part of the Kohala Mountain Road Resurfacing project.

HAWI

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction, between mile post 16 to 19, in the vicinity of Akoni Pule Highway, on Monday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Oct. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

 PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Monday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Oct. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving the roadway and doing shoulder work as part of the Puainako Street Widening Project.
