Early election results show Dr. Kimo Alameda leading incumbent Mayor Mitch Roth in the Hawaiʻi County Mayoral race.

Roth and Alameda were the top vote getters during the August 10 primary election but did not secure enough votes to win outright.

Results from yesterday’s election show Alameda with 35,577 votes (51.2%) to Rothʻs 30,717 ( 44.2%), according to the first Hawaiʻi election printout which did not change after the second printout.

59 year-old Roth was elected as mayor in 2020 after serving as the Hawai’i County prosecutor.

54 year-old Alameda spent years working for the state Department of Health as a mental health specialist and later as an administrator.  In 2019, he became the CEO of Bay Clinic Health Center.
