Hawai‘i Island police arrested and charged 47-year-old Sheldon Pagan with various property offenses stemming from a Hilo business burglary.

On September 15, two male suspects were captured on the store’s video surveillance footage. Following a media release containing the suspect’s photos, HPD received several tips from the public identifying Pagan as one of the suspects.

Pagan was positively identified and was arrested on Tuesday. After conferral with the Hawai’i County Prosecutors Office, Pagan was charged with the following offenses:

  • Second-degree burglary
  • Second-degree theft
  • Third-degree criminal property damage

His bail was set at $43,000.

The other suspect, who is described as a local male wearing a dark top, ball cap and dark shorts and had a beige wrap-type bandage on his lower left shin and a small beige bandage below his right knee cap, has not been identified.

Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Detective Amy Omaya of the Area I Investigation Section at (808) 961-2381, or email at amy.omaya@hawaiicounty.gov.
