Hawai’i Island police are renewing their request for public assistance in locating two males who escaped from the Hawai’i Community Correctional Center Hale Nani Facility in Hilo earlier this month.

The escapees include:

31 year-old Clyde T. Loa who is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, 225 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. and 41 year-old Kawai J. Pomroy, who is described as 6 feet 2 inches tall, 260 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

A third inmate, Jospeh Fernandez, who reportedly escaped, was captured by police on Wednesday December 18, 2024 after he was located at a  Hawaiʻi Ocean View Estates Subdivision residence.

Hawai’i Island police are actively following up on tips received from the public regarding the whereabouts of both Loa and Pomroy who both have active warrants for their arrest.  They have been reported to have been seen in the Districts of Puna, Kaʻū, and Kona.

Police caution members of the public not to approach either escapee but to rather immediately contact police.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of these individuals is encouraged to contact Detective Donovan Kohara at (808) 960-3118; or via email at donovan.kohara@hawaiicounty.gov. or Detective David Poʻohina at (808) 961-2385 or via email at David.poohina@hawaiicounty.gov.
