Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of January 6

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of January 6, 2025. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY/VOLCANO HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

 

KURITSTOWN

Single lane closure on Volcano Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction at mile post 9.7, in the vicinity of Huina Road, Monday, Jan. 6 through Thursday, Jan. 9, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for maintaining crosswalks and pavement markings.

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 17 to 19, Monday, Jan. 6 through Friday, Jan. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

KEOKEA-HONAUNAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 97.3 to 104.7, in the vicinity of Haleili Road and Filipino Clubhouse Road, on Monday, Jan. 6 through Friday, Jan. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for safety improvements.

HAWAII BELT ROAD/KAWAIHAE ROAD/QUEEN KAAHUMANU HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19) 

LAUPAHOEHOE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 25.5 to 27, in the vicinity of Jardine Road, Monday, Jan. 6 through Friday, Jan. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting along Hamakua Gulch.

KAILUA KONA

Single lane closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 93 to 99, in the vicinity of Kaiminani Drive and Kawi Street, on Monday, Jan. 6 through Friday, Jan. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for drainage cleaning.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 0.3 to 2, in the vicinity of Kaomoloa Road and Waimea-Kohala Airport, on Monday, Jan. 6 through Friday, Jan. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

WAIKOLOA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, on Monday, Jan. 6 through Friday, Jan. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and striping.

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 16 to 19, on Monday, Jan. 6 through Friday, Jan. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

 

PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction between Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, Monday, Jan. 6 through Friday, Jan. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and shoulder work as part of the Puainako Street Improvements.
