Hawaiʻi County D.U.I. Statistics: February 3-9

During the week of February 3, through February 9, 2025, Hawai‘i Island police arrested 24 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Seven of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash, while four of the drivers were under the age of 21.

So far in 2025, there have been 106 DUI arrests compared with 111 during the same period last year, a decrease of 4.5 percent.

The Hawai‘i County Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 97 major crashes thus far in 2025, compared with 106 major crashes during the same time last year, a decrease of 8.5 percent.

To date, there were five fatal crashes, resulting in five fatalities (one fatal crash was reclassified to a medical condition) compared with five fatal crashes, resulting in five fatalities for the same time last year.
