Hawaiʻi County Lane Closures: Week of February 17

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of February 17, 2025. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. In observance of Presidents Day Monday, Feb. 17, there will be no contraflow set up or lane closures unless otherwise permitted. All projects are weather permitting.

 

 

VOLCANO ROAD/MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)

 

PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 49 to 51, in the vicinity of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, on Tuesday, Feb. 18 through Friday, Feb. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

 

PAPA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 83 to 86, on Tuesday, Feb. 18 through Friday, Feb. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

 

HONAUNAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 97.3 to 104.7, in the vicinity of Haleili Road and Filipino Clubhouse Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 18 through Friday, Feb. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for safety improvements.

 

 

HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

 

LAUPAHOEHOE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 25 to 29, in the vicinity of Puualaea Homestead Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 18 through Friday, Feb. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

 

LAUPAHOEHOE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 26 to 27, in the vicinity of Jardine Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 18 through Friday, Feb. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for tree trimming.

 

 

 QUEEN KAAHUMANU HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19) 

 

KAILUA-KONA

Single lane closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 96 to 98, in the vicinity of Hale Makai Place, on Tuesday, Feb. 18 through Friday, Feb. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for drainage cleaning and documentation of inlets.

 

 

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) in the northbound direction between mile post 0 to 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 18 through Friday, Feb. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving. Northbound will be detoured to Ala Ohia Road. Southbound is open to local traffic only.

 

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, on Tuesday, Feb. 18 through Friday, Feb. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and striping.

 

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

 

KAPAAU

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 9 to 11, Tuesday, Feb. 18 through Friday, Feb. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for tree trimming and mowing.
