Hawaiʻi County D.U.I. Statistics: March 10-16

During the week of March 10, through March 16, 2025, Hawai‘i Island police arrested 15 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant.  Two of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash. None of the drivers were under the age of 21.

So far in 2025, there have been 201 DUI arrests compared with 197 during the same period last year, an increase of 2.03 percent.

The Hawai‘i County Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 202 major crashes thus far in 2025, compared with 209 major crashes during the same time last year, a decrease of 3.3 percent.

To date, there were seven fatal crashes, resulting in eight fatalities compared with eight fatal crashes, resulting in eight fatalities for the same time last year, a decrease of 12.5 percent for fatal crashes.

So far in 2025, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) is zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year.
