The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of April 7, 2025. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting. In observance of Good Friday, on Friday, April 18 there will be no contraflow or lane closures, unless otherwise permitted.

 

KANOELEHUA AVENUE (ROUTE 11) 

HILO

Single lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 2.5, in the vicinity of Ahona Place, on Monday, April 14 to Thursday, April 17, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mulching and shoulder work.

HILO

Single lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 2 to 4, in the vicinity of East Puainako Street and Lama Street, on Monday, April 14 to Thursday, April 17, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mowing.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 65 to 67, on Monday, April 14 to Thursday, April 17, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

HONAUNAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 97.3 to 104.7, in the vicinity of Haleili Road and Filipino Clubhouse Road, on Monday, April 14 through Thursday, April 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for safety improvements.

CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 107.3 to 108, Rabbit Hill and Government Main Road, on Monday, April 14 to Thursday, April 17, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mowing and shoulder work.

 KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

KEAUHOU

Roving single lane closure with shift on Mamalahoa/Kuakini Highway (Route 11) in the center of the road between mile post 114 to 115.6, in the vicinity of W. Honalo Road and Ihilani Place, on Monday, April 14 to Thursday, April 17, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for pavement marking.

 

 

HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 2.7 to 4, in the vicinity of Kanoa Street, on Monday, April 14 to Thursday, April 17, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

HONOMU TO HAKALAU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 13 to 15, in the vicinity of Chin Chuck Road, on Monday, April 14 to Thursday, April 17, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and shoulder work.

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 9.7 to 12.2, on Monday, April 14, to Thursday, April 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping and installation of raised pavement markers.
