Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of April 28

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of April 28, 2025. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

 

VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

 

KURTISTOWN

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 9.8 to 10.2, in the vicinity of Huina Road and Ualani Road, on Monday, April 28 to Friday, May 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for installation of a new waterline.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

 

NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 60 to 62, on Monday, April 28 to Friday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

HONAUNAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 97.2 to 104.7, in the vicinity of Haleili Road and Filipino Clubhouse Road, on Monday, April 28 through Friday, May 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for safety improvements.

HOLUALOA 

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 117 to 118, on Monday, April 28 to Friday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mowing.

 

HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

 

PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 6 to 8, in the vicinity of Indian Tree Road, on Monday, April 28 to Friday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming, mowing, and shoulder work.

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 19.73 to 19.75, on Friday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for maintenance on Manoloa Bridge.

 

KEAAU PAHOA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

 

KEAAU

Single lane closure on Keaau Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile post 1 to 2.5, in the vicinity of Opukahaia Street, on Monday, April 28 to Friday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road, on Monday, April 28 through Friday, May 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and striping.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 9.7 to 12.2, on Monday, April 28, to Friday, May 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping and installation of raised pavement markers.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, on Monday, April 28, to Friday, May 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and striping.

 DANIEL K. INOUYE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 200) 

 

HILO

Single lane closure on Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Route 200) possible in either direction between mile post 6 to 8, on Monday, April 28 to Friday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for shoulder work.

KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

 

KOHALA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 9 to 16, on Monday, April 28 to Friday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mowing and tree trimming.

 

AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) 

 

KAWAIHAE

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile post 8 to 15, on Monday, April 28 to Friday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cleaning of culverts and tree trimming.

 

PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction between mile post 0.5 to 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Monday, April 28 through Friday, May 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping and installing raised pavement markers.
