The monthly all-hazard warning siren test will include two new sirens in Waikōloa Village.

The sirens at Puʻu Nui Park and Kamakoa Nui Park were recently installed as part of the Statewide Outdoor Warning Siren System and will be tested, along with the rest of the network tomorrow at 11:45 a.m.

In a press relase Mayor Alameda said, “These new sirens are a welcomed addition to our island’s emergency notification system. They represent another step forward in keeping our communities informed and safe. During an emergency, timely alerts can make all the difference, and these sirens will help ensure that our residents can take action when it matters most.”

During the tests, residents can expect to hear the sirens activated for one minute. During an actual emergency, the sirens will activate for three minutes to alert residents to seek more information.

If a siren is heard outside of a scheduled test, residents should turn to radio, television, or their cell phones to check for emergency messages.
