Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of June 2

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of June 2, 2025. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

 

KANOELEHUA AVENUE (ROUTE 11) 

1) HILO

Single lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) possible in either direction at mile post 0.4, in the vicinity of Piilani Street, on Monday June 2 to Friday, June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for crosswalk and turn lane maintenance.

HILO

Single lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) possible in either at mile post 0.7, in the vicinity of Kekuanaoa Street on Monday June 2 to Friday, June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for crosswalk maintenance and lane lines.

KEAAU

Single lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 5 to 7, in the vicinity of Ikaika Lane and Old Volcano Road, on Monday June 2 to Friday, June 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 28.1 to 28.5, in the vicinity of Hawai‘i Volcano’s National Park, on Monday, June 2 to Friday, June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for rumble strip installation.

NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 58.5 to 60.5, on Monday, June 2 to Friday, June 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 107 to 109, in the vicinity of Rabbit Hill Road and Koa Road, on Monday, June 2 to Friday June 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mowing and shoulder work.

 KAMEHAMEHA AVENUE (ROUTE 19) 

HILO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction at between mile post 1.5 and 1.6, in the vicinity of Bishop Street, on Monday, June 2 to Friday, June 6 from 8:15 a.m. to 12 p.m. for crosswalk and pocket lane maintenance.

 

HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile post 6.5 to 7.5, in the vicinity of Mill Road and Kalaoa Camp Road, on Monday, June 2 to Friday, June 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. cutting grass.

PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile post 7.2 to 7.3, in the vicinity of Kaieie Road, on Monday, June 2 and Tuesday, June 3 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. deck repair on Kaieie Bridge.

PEPEEKEO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile post 9.6 to 9.7 in the vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Highway, on Wednesday, June 4 and Thursday, June 5 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. deck repair on Waiaama Bridge.

 

NINOLE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile post 17 to 18, Monday, June 2 to Friday, June 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. tree trimming and shoulder work.

PAHOA KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

PAHOA 

Single lane closure on Pahoa Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile post 16 to 18, on Monday, June 2 to Friday May 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and shoulder work.

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road, on Monday, June 2, to Friday, June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and striping.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, on Monday, June 2, to Friday, June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for paving and striping.

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

KAPAAU

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 9 to 10, on Monday, June 2 to Friday, June 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and shoulder work.

 PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction between mile post 0.5 to 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Monday, June 2 to Friday, June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. striping and installing new raised pavement markers.

 

HILO (NIGHT WORK)

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction between mile post 0.5 to 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Monday, June 2 to Friday, June 6 from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. for installation of asphalt curbs.
