Hilo Man Charged with Robbery at KTA

36 year-old Andrew Storseth of Hilo was arrested and charged with robbery involving the use of a knife, shoplifting, prohibited possession of ammunition, and possession of methamphetamine following a recent robbery at the Puainako KTA store.

As the Complaint alleges, Storseth is charged with Robbery in the First Degree, Terroristic
Threatening in the First Degree, Theft in the Fourth Degree / Shoplifting, Place to Keep
Ammunition, Ownership, Possession, or Control of Ammunition Prohibited, and Promoting a
Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree (possess any amount of methamphetamine).
The most serious offense, Robbery in the First Degree, is a class A felony offense and carries
a penalty of a twenty-year prison term. Ownership, Possession, or Control of Ammunition Prohibited
is a class B felony offense and carries a penalty of a ten-year prison term. Prosecutors have provided
notice that if he is convicted as charged, Defendant may be subject to a mandatory prison term and
not be eligible for probation.

The charges are merely allegations, and the Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until
proven guilty.

The case was led by Officer Devon Manuel, South Hilo Patrol. The case is being prosecuted
by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Ryan Caday.
