Hawaiʻi County D.U.I. Statistics: May 26 – June 1

During the week of May 26, through June 1, 2025, Hawai`i Island police arrested 14 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Six of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash, while one of the drivers was under the age of 21.

So far in 2025, there have been 395 DUI arrests compared with 403 during the same period in 2024, a decrease of 1.99%.

The Hawai‘i County Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 427 major crashes so far this year, compared with 418 major crashes during the same time last year, an increase of 2.2 percent.

To date, there were 12 fatal crashes, resulting in 13 fatalities compared with 14 fatal crashes, resulting in 16 fatalities for the same time last year. This represents a decrease of 14.3 percent for fatal crashes and 18.8 percent for fatalities.

So far in 2025, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) is zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year.
