Hawaiʻi County D.U.I. Stats: June 16-22

During the week of June 16, through June 22, 2025, Hawai‘i Island police arrested 17 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Five of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash, while two of the drivers were under the age of 21.

So far in 2025, there have been 449 DUI arrests compared with 464 during the same period last year, a decrease of 3.23 percent.

The Hawai‘i County Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 498 major crashes thus far in 2025, compared with 468 major crashes during the same time in 2024, an increase of 6.41 percent.

To date, there have been 12 fatal crashes, resulting in 13 fatalities compared with 15 fatal crashes, resulting in 17 fatalities for the same time last year. This represents a decrease of 20 percent for fatal crashes and 23.52 percent for fatalities.

To date, the non-traffic fatality count so far this year is 0 compared to 0 non-traffic fatalities (not on a public roadway) for the same time last year.
