The Hawai‘i County Police Department held the 102nd Police Recruit Class recognition ceremony yesterday.

The 102nd Recruit Class began training on November 18, 2024. After six months of academic instruction, which concluded on May 17, 2025, recruits moved on to four months of field training under the guidance of veteran officers.

Class officers include Officer Cody Hirata (class president) and Officer Kastle Quiocho (vice president). Special recognition was given to those who excelled during academic training. Officer Hirata received the Firearms Award for demonstrating the highest level of performance and proficiency, and he was also named Most Outstanding Recruit for placing in the top 10 percent academically and physically.
