Puna Man Arrested and Charged in Relation to Firearms Incident

20 year-old Noa Lolohea was arrested and charged in relation to a firearms incident that occurred in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision.

Lolohea recently made his initial Hilo District Court appearance where his bail was maintained at $261,000.00. and he was ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing tomorrow.

As the Complaint alleges, Lolohea is charged with Reckless Endangering in the First Degree, Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree, Ownership, Possession, or Control of Firearm Prohibited, Ownership, Possession, or Control of Ammunition Prohibited, Place to Keep Pistol or Revolver, Carrying or Possessing a Loaded Firearm on a Public Highway, Driving Without a License, and Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree.

The most serious offenses, Ownership, Possession, or Control Prohibited, Place to Keep Pistol or Revolver, and Carrying or Possessing a Loaded Firearm on a Public Highway, are all class B felony offenses and carry a maximum penalty of a ten-year prison term. Prosecutors have provided notice that if convicted as charged, Lolohea faces sentencing to a mandatory term of imprisonment and will not be eligible for probation.

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Patrick Muñoz.

The charges are merely allegations, and the Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
