Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of October 6

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of October 6, 2025. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

 

VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 27.5 to 28.5, in the vicinity of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Old Volcano Road, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for HELCO installing new powerline poles.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

 

NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 60 to 71, in the vicinity of Kahuku Ranch Road, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for restriping, installation of centerline rumble strips and pavement markers.

NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 67 to 69, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

KEAUHOU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 113.5 to 116.5, in the vicinity of Daifukuji Buddhist Temple and Mamalahoa Highway, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and pavement markers.

 

 HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

 

 

HILO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 4.5 to 5, in the vicinity of Kahoa Street and Kahoa Place, on Thursday, October 2 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for bridge maintenance.

PAPIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile post 8.2 to 8.5, in the vicinity of Indian Tree Road and Old Mamalahoa Highway, on Monday, October 6 to Wednesday, October 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for bridge maintenance on Hanawai bridge.

 

ONOMEA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile post 9 to 9.5, in the vicinity of Old Onomea Road, on  Thursday, October 9 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for bridge maintenance on Kawainui bridge.

 

HONOMU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile post 12 to 14, in the vicinity of Cane Road and Old Mamalahoa Highway, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

HAKALAU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile post 15.1 to 15.6, in the vicinity of Leopolino Road, on Monday, October 6 and Friday, October 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for installation of construction signs for work on Hakalau Bridge. PAPAALOA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 21 to 22, in the vicinity of Kaihuiki Road and Uweki Road, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for grading and shoulder work.

 

 KEAAU-PAHOA BYPASS ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

PAHOA

Single lane closure on Keaau-Pahoa Bypass Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile post 10 to 12, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

KEAAU-PAHOA ROAD (ROUTE 139) 

PAHOA

Roving shoulder closure on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 139) possible in either direction between mile post 0.1 to 1.1 in the vicinity of Old Volcano Road and Keaau-Pahoa Bypass Road, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for maintaining lines and markings.

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping of lane lines, turn pockets, and direction arrows.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 2 to 9, in the vicinity of Saddle Road on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and shoulder work.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, in the vicinity of Saddle Road on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping of lane lines, turn pockets, and direction arrows.

 AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) 

KAWAIHAE

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile post 1 to 6, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

 PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction between mile post 0.5 to 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping, installing new raised pavement markers and traffic signal loops.
