The Toronto Blue Jays are heading to the America League Championship Series for the first time since 2016, after eliminating the NY Yankees in Game 4 of their ALDS with a 5-2 win at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. opened the scoring for Toronto with an RBI single in the first inning, with George Springer driving in another run, and Nathan Lukes lining a 1-0 fastball into left field in the seventh, bringing in two runs to take a 4-1 lead. Eight Toronto pitchers shut down New York’s offense, with the Yankees’ lone run coming on Ryan McMahon’s solo homer in the third inning.

Game 1 of the ALCS is scheduled to begin on Sunday; the Blue Jays will face the winner of the ALDS series between the Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners, who are schedule to play the deciding Game 5 on Friday.

The Detroit Tigers rallied in Game 4 of the ALDS to defeat the Seattle Mariners 9-3 on Wednesday afternoon at Comerica Park to tie the series, and force a decisive Game 5.

Trailing 2-0, the Tigers came back with a surge of offense, putting up three runs in the fifth inning and adding four more in the sixth. Javier Báez sparked the rally with a clutch RBI single that tied the game, and Riley Greene followed with a go-ahead home run — the first postseason homer of his career.

Game 5 of the ALDS between the Tigers and Mariners is scheduled for Friday at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. The winner will advance to the ALCS against the Toronto Blue Jays, who eliminated the NY Yankees on Wednesday in four games.
