The East Hawaiʻi Cultural Center’s (EHCC) latest exhibit,  “Em-bodied. Body Politics”, explores complex relationships with the human body through diverse artistic mediums including photography, textile collage, video, drawings, and installations.

The exhibit, which runs through November 26, 2025, features works by the following artists:

  • Mitchell Squire – uses self-portraiture to explore race and body image.
  • Latai Taumeopeau – documents a performance involving progressive spray tanning.
  • Lori B. Crawford – references the “Brown Paper Bag Test” in African American history.
  • Oksana Briuhovetetska – presents a collage symbolizing solidarity among women in Ukraine.
  • Katarzyna Mirczak – shows absence through forensic photography.
  • Hans van der Meer – captures amateur football games to reflect identity and affiliation.
  • Bruno Schulz – blends fantasy and autobiography in drawings and prose.
