Hawaiʻi County Police Detective David Po‘ohina was recently honored as Hawai‘i Island’s Top Cop for 2025.

Through his exceptional investigative work, Po‘ohina successfully resolved two Hilo violent crime cases including a home invasion and unsolved homicide.

Interim Chief Reed Mahuna praised Po‘ohina’s dedication, professionalism, and compassion, noting his work brought justice and peace to affected families.
