A fire involving a two-story,1400 sq. foot multi-family residential building occurred at the old Pueo Poi Factory in Hilo Saturday.

The fire was approximately 60% engulfed in flames when Hawaiʻi County Fire Department personnel  arrived.

Two fatalities were confirmed, and 28 residents were displaced and assisted by the Red Cross.

The estimated property loss is $500,000, with $117,000 saved.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
