The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of December 15, 2025. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.
VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11)
VOLCANO
Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 27 to 30, in the vicinity of Haunani Road and Kilauea Military Camp, on Monday, December 15 to Friday, December 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for HELCO installing new powerline poles and lines.
MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)
PAHALA TO NAALEHU
Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) is possible in either direction between mile post 50 to 60, on Monday, December 15 to Friday, December 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and permanent markers.
HAWAIIAN OCEAN VIEW
Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 70 to 83, on Monday, December 15 to Friday, December 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strips, new striping, and pavement markers.

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 88 to 89, in the vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Highway and Papalani Place, on Monday, December 15 to Friday, December 19 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for shoulder work and mowing.
