Hawaiʻi County D.U.I. Statistics: December 8-14

During the week of December 8 to December 14, 2025, Hawai‘i Island police arrested 17 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Six of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash, while five of the drivers were under the age of 21.

So far in 2025, there have been 866 DUI arrests compared with 918 during the same period last year, a decrease of 5.66 percent.

The Hawai‘i County Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 955 major crashes so far this year, compared with 944 major crashes during the same time last year, an increase of 1.17 percent.

To date, there have been18 fatal crashes, resulting in 20 fatalities compared with 25 fatal crashes, resulting in 28 fatalities for the same time last year. This represents a decrease of 28 percent for fatal crashes and 28.57 percent for fatalities.

So far in 2025, the non-traffic fatality count so far this year is 0 compared to 0 non-traffic fatalities (not on a public roadway) for the same time last year.
