Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of January 5

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of January 5, 2026. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

 

VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 27 to 30, in the vicinity of Haunani Road and Kilauea Military Camp, on Monday, January 5 to Friday, January 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for HELCO installing new powerline poles and lines.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

PAHALA TO NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) is possible in either direction between mile post 50 to 60, on Monday, January 5 to Friday, January 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and permanent markers.

HAWAIIAN OCEAN VIEW

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 70 to 83, on Monday, January 5 to Friday, January 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strips, new striping, and pavement markers.

 

 HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)

PEPEEKEO (DAILY/NIGHT WORK) (24 HOUR LANE CLOSURES)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 11.5 to 11.7, in the vicinity of Overpass Road and Cane Road, from 8 a.m. Monday, January 5 through 12 a.m. Wednesday, January 7 for emergency zone work pavement repair.

HONOMU (DAILY/NIGHT WORK) (24 HOUR LANE CLOSURES)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 12.3 to 12.8, from 8 a.m. Wednesday, January 7 through 12 a.m. Friday, January 9 for emergency zone work pavement repair.

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road, on Monday, January 5 to Friday, January 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applying new striping.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, on Monday, January 5 to Friday, January 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applying new striping.

 KAWAIHAE ROAD (ROUTE 270) 

KAWAIHAE

Single lane closure on Kawaihae Road (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile post 1.5 to 1.6, in the vicinity of Kawaihae-Mahukona Road, on Monday, January 5 to Thursday, January 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for installing speed humps and signs.
