#23 MARSHON LATTIMORE JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS VS NEW ORLEANS SAINTS WEEK 7 OCTOBER 19^ 2023 CAESARS SUPERDOME NEW ORLEANS LOUISIANA

Washington Commanders cornerback Marshon Lattimore was taken into custody Wednesday night in suburban Cleveland following a traffic stop that led to potential weapons charges, according to police records and local reports.

The incident occurred around 6:14 p.m. in Lakewood, Ohio, when officers stopped a vehicle for expired license plates and other traffic violations. Lattimore, 29, was a passenger in the car. Police say he was arrested after failing to disclose the presence of firearms in the vehicle. A 9mm Glock was listed as evidence in the police report. Authorities cited possible charges of carrying a concealed weapon and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle. Lattimore was booked into the Lakewood jail and later released, with the case still under investigation and no formal charges filed as of Thursday.

The arrest marks the second firearms-related incident involving Lattimore in the Cleveland area. In March 2021, he was initially charged with a felony count of receiving a stolen firearm. That charge was later dropped, and he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor concealed-weapon offense, resulting in one year of probation and a suspended 180-day jail sentence.

The Commanders acknowledged the most recent situation in a brief statement, saying, “We have been made aware of the arrest and are gathering more information. We have informed the NFL League Office and have no further comment at this time.”

Lattimore, a Cleveland native, joined Washington via a trade with the New Orleans Saints during the 2024 season after spending the first eight years of his NFL career in New Orleans. A first-round pick (11th overall) in the 2017 draft, he earned four Pro Bowl selections with the Saints. His time in Washington has been limited by injuries: over the past season and a half, Lattimore appeared in nine games, recording one interception and 27 tackles before tearing his ACL in early November and being placed on injured reserve, missing the remainder of the season as a result.

Lattimore remains under contract through the 2026 season. Washington could clear significant salary cap space by moving on from him, though no decision has been announced.
