Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of January 12

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of January 12, 2026. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

 

VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

 

VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 27 to 30, in the vicinity of Haunani Road and Kilauea Military Camp, on Monday, January 12 to Friday, January 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for HELCO installing new powerline poles and lines.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

PAHALA TO NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) is possible in either direction between mile post 50 to 60, on Monday, January 12 to Friday, January 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and permanent markers.

HAWAIIAN OCEAN VIEW

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 70 to 83, on Monday, January 12 to Friday, January 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strips, new striping, and pavement markers.

 

HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)

HONOMU (NIGHT WORK) (24 HOUR LANE CLOSURE)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 12.3 to 12.8, beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, January 12 until further notice for emergency zone work, pavement repair.

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road, on Monday, January 12 to Friday, January 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applying new striping.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, on Monday, January 12 to Friday, January 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applying new striping.

 PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction between mile post 0.5 to 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Monday, January 12 and Friday, January 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for painting asphalt curbs and direction arrows.
