Hawaiʻi County D.U.I. Statistics: Jan 1-4

During the week of Jan. 1, through Jan. 4, 2026, Hawai‘i Island police arrested 13 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Five of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. None of the drivers were under the age of 21.

So far in 2026, there have been 13 DUI arrests compared with 11 during the same period last year, an increase of 18.18 percent.

The Hawai‘i County Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 10 major crashes so far this year, compared with 11 major collisions during the same time last year, a decrease of 9.09 percent.
