The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation has introduced a new ticketless parking system at Kona and Hilo airports in partnership with AI parking technology company Metropolis.

Travelers can register via the Metropolis app, website, or QR codes at the airports by providing their phone number, license plate, and payment method. Once registered, they can enter and exit without tickets, while payment is processed automatically.

Those who don’t register can still use traditional ticketing and pay with cash or card.

Parking rates remain the same.

Starting in March, passengers will be able to reserve parking in advance.

Kona and Hilo are among nine airports nationwide to install Metropolis’ technology, after its debut last year.
