Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of January 26

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of January 26, 2026. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

 

VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 16 to 23, in the vicinity of North Peck Road and Alii Kane Street, on Monday, January 26 to Friday, January 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and pavement markers.

 

VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 27 to 30, in the vicinity of Haunani Road and Kilauea Military Camp, on Monday, January 26 to Friday, January 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for HELCO installing new powerline poles and lines.

VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 33 to 42, on Monday, January 26 to Friday, January 30 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and pavement markers.

 

KANOELEHUA AVENUE (ROUTE 11) 

KEAAU

Single lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) is possible in either direction between mile post 4.5 to 6.5, in the vicinity of Kai Ki Street on Monday, January 26 to Friday, January 30 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mulching and shoulder work.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

PAHALA TO NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) is possible in either direction between mile post 50 to 60, on Monday, January 26 to Friday, January 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and permanent markers.

NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 56 to 58, in the vicinity of Ninole Loop, on Monday, January 26 to Friday, January 30 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

HAWAIIAN OCEAN VIEW

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 70 to 83, on Monday, January 26 to Friday, January 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strips, new striping, and pavement markers.

HAWAIIAN OCEAN VIEW

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 78 to 92.6, on Monday, January 26 to Friday, January 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping, installation of, new striping and pavement markers.

KEALAKEKUA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 113 to 114, in the vicinity of Trousseau Road on Monday, January 26 to Friday, January 30 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mowing and shoulder work.

 KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

KEAHOU

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 115 to 116, in the vicinity of Puuloa Road and Walua Road on Monday, January 26 to Friday, January 30 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mowing.

 

 HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)

PEPEEKEO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 10 to 11, in the vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Highway, on Monday, January 26 to Friday, January 30 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cleaning the culverts.

HONOMU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK) (24 HOUR LANE CLOSURES)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 12.3 to 12.8, from thru 12 a.m. Friday, January 30 for emergency zone work, pavement repair.

PAPAALOA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 21 to 23, in the vicinity of Kaihuiki Road and Koi Place, on Monday, January 26 to Friday, January 30 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting the grass.

KEAAU PAHOA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

 

PAHOA

Single lane closure on Keaau Pahoa Road (Route 130), possible in either direction between mile post 2 to 4, in the vicinity of Keaau Pahoa Road on Monday, January 26 to Friday, January 30 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road, on Monday, January 26 to Friday, January 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applying new striping.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190), possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, on Monday, January 26 to Friday, January 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applying new striping.

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

 

KOHALA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 10 to 14, on Monday, January 26 to Friday, January 30 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for shoulder work.

 PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction between mile post 0.5 to 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Monday, January 26 to Friday, January 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for repairing and painting asphalt curbs and direction arrows.
