Hawaiʻi County Lane Closures: Week of February 2

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of February 2, 2026. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

 

VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

KEAAU TO KURTISTOWN

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 6 to 9, in the vicinity of North Road, on Monday, February 2 to Friday, February 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mulching and shoulder work.

 

KURTISTOWN

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 7 to 10, in the vicinity of Hale Pule Loop, on Monday, February 2 to Friday, February 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting the grass.

 

VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 16 to 33, on Monday, February 2 to Friday, February 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and pavement markers.

 

VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 27 to 30, in the vicinity of Haunani Road and Kilauea Military Camp, onM onday, February 2 to Friday, February 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for HELCO installing new powerline poles and lines.

VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 33 to 42, on Monday, February 2 to Friday, February 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and pavement markers.

  

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

 

PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 46 to 48, in the vicinity of Kapapala Ranch Road, on Monday, February 2 to Friday, February 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

 

PAHALA TO NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) is possible in either direction between mile post 46 to 60, in the vicinity of Kapapala Ranch Road, on Monday, February 2 to Friday, February 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and permanent markers.

PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 70 to 83, on Monday, February 2 to Friday, February 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strips, new striping, and pavement markers.

KIPAHOEHOE

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 87 to 89, in the vicinity of Ohana Road and Papalani Place, on Monday, February 2 to Friday, February 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

KEAHOU

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 115 to 116, in the vicinity of Puuloa Road and Walua Road on Monday, February 2 to Friday, February 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting the grass.

 

 HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)

HILO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) is possible in either direction between mile post 2.7 to 3.8, in the vicinity of Pukihae Street, on Monday, February 2 to Friday, February 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cleaning culverts and shoulder work.

PEPEEKEO TO HAKALAU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 10 to 15, in the vicinity of Chin Chuck Road, on Monday, February 2 to Friday, February 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting the grass.

HONOMU TO HAKALAU (NIGHT WORK) (24 HOUR LANE CLOSURES)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 11.5 to 15, in the vicinity of Overpass Road and Chin Chuck Road Midnight, Sunday, Feb 1, through 12 a.m. Friday, February 6 for emergency zone work, pavement repair.

HONOMU (NIGHT WORK) (24 HOUR LANE CLOSURES)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 12.3 to 12.8, from 12 a.m. Saturday, January 31 through 12 a.m. Sunday, February 1 for emergency zone work, pavement repair.

NINOLE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 17.9 to 18.2 in the vicinity of Government Main Road, on Monday, February 2 to Friday, February 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for drilling for samples.

OOKALA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 30.3 to 31.4 in the vicinity of Mamalahoa Highway and Niupea Homestead Road, on Wednesday, February 4 to Friday, February 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for work on Kaholo Stream Bridge.

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road, on Monday, February 2 to Friday, February 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applying new striping.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190), possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, on Monday, February 2 to Friday, February 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applying new striping.

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

 

KOHALA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 10 to 15, on Monday, February 2 to Friday, February 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for shoulder work.

 PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction between mile post 0.5 to 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Monday, February 2 to Friday, February 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for repairing and painting asphalt curbs and direction arrows.
