Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of February 9

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of February 9, 2026. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

 

VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

 

KURTISTOWN TO MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 10 to 16, in the vicinity of Hale Pule Loop and North Peck Road, on Monday, February 9 to Friday, February 13 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting the grass.

 

VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 27 to 30, in the vicinity of Haunani Road and Kilauea Military Camp, on Monday, February 9 to Friday, February 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for HELCO installing new powerline poles and lines.

KAMEHAMEHA AVENUE/VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

 

HILO TO VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Kamehameha Avenue to Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 28, in the vicinity of Banyan Drive and Crater Rim Drive, on Monday, February 9 to Friday, February 13 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and pavement markers.

 

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

 

 

PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 48 to 50, on Monday, February 9 to Friday, February 13 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting the grass.

 

PAHALA TO NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) is possible in either direction between mile post 50 to 60, on Monday, February 9 to Friday, February 13 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and permanent markers.

KIPAHOEHOE

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 83 to 86, on Monday, February 9 to Friday, February 13 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting the grass.

HONAUNAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 100 to 102, on Monday, February 9 to Friday, February 13 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and shoulder work.

 KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

 

KEAHOU

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 115 to 116, in the vicinity of Puuloa Road and Walua Road on Monday, February 9 to Friday, February 13 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting the grass.

 

 HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 6 to 10.5, in the vicinity of Kaaukai Place and Kaupakuea Homestead Road, on Monday, February 9 to Friday, February 13 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and shoulder work.

PAPAIKOU TO PEPEEKEO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 8 to 10.5, in the vicinity of Indian Tree Road and Kaupakuea Homestead Road, on Monday, February 9 to Friday, February 13 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. cutting the grass.

HONOMU TO HAKALAU (NIGHT WORK) (24 HOUR LANE CLOSURES)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 11.5 to 15, in the vicinity of Overpass Road and Chin Chuck Road, Saturday, February 7 to Friday, February 13 for emergency zone work, pavement repair.

OOKALA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 29.8 to 32, in the vicinity of Ookala Graveyard Road, on Monday, February 9 to Friday, February 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Kaholo Stream Bridge work.

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road, on Monday, February 9 to Friday, February 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applying new striping.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190), possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, on Monday, February 9 to Friday, February 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applying new striping.

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

 

HAWI

Single lane closure on Hawi Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 16 to 19, in the vicinity of Akoni Pule Highway on Monday, February 9 to Friday, February 13 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for shoulder work and tree trimming.

 PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction between mile post 0.5 to 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Monday, February 9 to Friday, February 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for repairing and painting asphalt curbs and direction arrows.
