Hawaiʻi County Lane Closures: Week of February 16

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of February 16, 2026. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting. In observance of President’s Day on February 16, there will be no contraflow or lane closures unless otherwise permitted.

 

KAMEHAMEHA AVENUE/VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

HILO TO VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Kamehameha Avenue to Volcano Road (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 32, in the vicinity of Banyan Drive to past Volcano National Park, on Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, February 20 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and pavement markers.

VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 14 to 16, in the vicinity of North Lauko Road and North Peck Road, on Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, February 20 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mowing the vegetation.

VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 27 to 30, in the vicinity of Haunani Road and Kilauea Military Camp, on Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, February 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for HELCO installing new powerline poles and lines.

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

PAHALA TO NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 50 to 60, on Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, February 20 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and permanent markers.

NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 54 to 56, in the vicinity of Ninole Loop Road, on Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, February 20 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for shoulder work.

HAWAIIAN OCEAN VIEW

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 80 to 84, in the vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Highway, on Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, February 20 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and permanent markers.

KIPAHOEHOE

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 86 to 89, in the vicinity of Papalani Place, on Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, February 20 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and mowing the vegetation.

HONONAUNAU TO CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 105 to 109, in the vicinity of Filipino Clubhouse Road and Koa Road, on Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, February 20 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping, new striping, and permanent markers.

 KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

KEAHOU

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 114 to 115, in the vicinity of West Honalo Road and Puuloa Road on Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, February 20 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mowing the vegetation.

HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)

PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 5 to 6, in the vicinity of Kahoa Place and Kaaukai Place, on Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, February 20 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and shoulder work.

HONOMU TO HAKALAU (DAILY WORK) (24 HOUR LANE CLOSURES)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 11.5 to 15, in the vicinity of Overpass Road and Chin Chuck Road, Saturday, February 14 to Friday, February 20 for emergency zone work, pavement repair.

HAKALAU TO LAUPAHOEHOE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 17 to 26, on Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, February 20 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mowing the vegetation.

LAUPAHOEHOE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 25.2 to 25.4, in the vicinity of Manowaiopae Homestead Road and Puualaea Homestead Road, on Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, February 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for exploratory drilling.

OOKALA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 29.8 to 32, in the vicinity of Ookala Graveyard Road, on Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, February 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Kaholo Stream Bridge work.

 KEAAU PAHOA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

KEAAU (NIGHT WORK)

Single lane closure on Keaau Pahoa Road (Route 130), in the northbound direction near mile post 2.5, in the vicinity of Opukahaia Street, on Wednesday, February 18 to Friday, February 20 from 6:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. for installing traffic loops.

KEAAU

Single lane closure on Keaau Pahoa Road (Route 130), possible in either direction between mile post 6.1 to 6.3, in the vicinity of Orchidland Drive and Paradise Drive, on Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, February 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for installing a waterline pipe.

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190), possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road, on Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, February 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applying new striping.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190), possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, on Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, February 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applying new striping.

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

HAWI

Single lane closure on Hawi Road (Route 250), possible in either direction between mile post 15 to 18, on Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, February 20 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for shoulder work and tree trimming.
