The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of February 23, 2026. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.
KAMEHAMEHA AVENUE/VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11)
HILO TO VOLCANO
Single lane closure on Kamehameha Avenue to Volcano Road (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 32, in the vicinity of Banyan Drive, on Monday, February 23 to Friday, February 27 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and pavement markers.
MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 50 to 60, on Monday, February 23 to Friday, February 27 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and permanent markers.

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 66 to 69.5, in the vicinity of Kamikina Street and Red Cinder Road, on Monday, February 23 to Friday, February 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for cutting the grass.

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 80 to 84, in the vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Highway, on Monday, February 23 to Friday, February 27 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and permanent markers.

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 89 to 91, in the vicinity of Papalani Place, on Monday, February 23 to Friday, February 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. cutting the grass.
HONONAUNAU TO CAPTAIN COOK
Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 105 to 109, in the vicinity of Filipino Clubhouse Road and Koa Road, on Monday, February 23 to Friday, February 27 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping, new striping, and permanent markers.
KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 114 to 115, in the vicinity of West Honalo Road and Puuloa Road on Monday, February 23 to Friday, February 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for cutting the grass.
