Hawaiʻi County Lane Closures: Week of March 2

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of March 2, 2026. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

 

 

KAMEHAMEHA AVENUE/VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

 

HILO TO VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Kamehameha Avenue to Volcano Road (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 32, in the vicinity of Banyan Drive, on Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and pavement markers.

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 16 to 21, on Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting the grass.

VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 31 to 34, on Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting the grass.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

 

KIPAHOEHOE

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 87 to 89, in the vicinity of Ohana Road and Paplani Place, on Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting the grass and tree trimming.

HONONAUNAU TO CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 105 to 109, in the vicinity of Filipino Clubhouse Road and Koa Road, on Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping, new striping, and permanent markers.

 KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

 KEAHOU

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 114 to 115, in the vicinity of West Honalo Road and Puuloa Road on Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting the grass.

 

 HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)

HILO TO OOKALA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 5 to 28, in the vicinity of Kahoa Place, on Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting trees and shoulder work.

HONOMU TO HAKALAU (WEEKEND) (24 HOUR LANE CLOSURES)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 11.5 to 15, in the vicinity of Overpass Road and Chin Chuck Road, Saturday, February 28 to Friday, March 6 for emergency zone work, pavement repair.

 

PAPAALOA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 22 to 24, in the vicinity of Uweki Road and Papaaloa Avenue, on Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mowing the grass.

OOKALA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 29.8 to 32, in the vicinity of Ookala Graveyard Road, on Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Kaholo Stream Bridge work.

 PAHOA KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

 

PAHOA

Single lane closure on Pahoa Kalapana Road (Route 130), possible in either direction between mile post 18 to 20, in the vicinity of Oneele Road and Old Kalapana Road, on Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mulching and shoulder work.

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190), possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road, on Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. to apply for new striping.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190), possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, on Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applying new striping.

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

 

HAWI

Single lane closure on Hawi Road (Route 250), possible in either direction between mile post 17 to 19, in the vicinity of Mamo Street and Akoni Pule Highway, on Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and shoulder work.
