Hawaiʻi County Lane Closures: Week of April 6

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of April 6, 2026. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

 

KAMEHAMEHA AVENUE (ROUTE 11) 

 

HILO

Single lane closure on Kamehameha Avenue (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 5, in the vicinity of Banyan Drive, on Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mechanical mowing/cutting the grass.

 

KAMEHAMEHA AVENUE/VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

 

HILO TO VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Kamehameha Avenue to Volcano Road (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 36, in the vicinity of Banyan Drive, on Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 10 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and pavement markers.

 

VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

 

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 17 to 19, in the vicinity of Lehuanani Street, on Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for shoulder work.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 45 to 49, in the vicinity of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mechanical mowing and cutting the grass.

KIPAHOEHOE

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 90 to 93, in the vicinity of Yee Hop Ranch Road and Ohia Malu Road, on Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and mechanical mowing.

CAPTAIN COOK TO HOLUALOA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 109 to 118, in the vicinity of Koa Road and Judd Trail, on Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 10 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installing new striping and pavement markers.

KEAHOU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 114 to 115, in the vicinity of West Honalo Road and Puuloa Road, on Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mechanical mowing.

 

  HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)

PEPEEKEO MILL TO WAILEA (24/7 LANE CLOSURE)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 11.5 to 15, in the vicinity of Overpass Road and Chin Chuck Road, on Monday, April 6 to Sunday, April 12 for emergency road repairs. One lane open for alternating traffic.

NINOLE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 17.9 to 18.2, in the vicinity of Government Main Road, on Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for work on Nanue Bridge.

 

PAPAALOA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 21 to 22, in the vicinity of Kaihuiki Road and Uweki Road, on Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and shoulder work.

OOKALA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 29.8 to 32, in the vicinity of Kaawalii Road, on Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for work on Kaholo Stream Bridge.

 KEAAU PAHOA ROAD/PAHOA KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

 

 

KEAAU TO KAIMU

Single lane closure on Keaau Pahoa Road to Pahoa Kalapana Road (Route 130), possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 21, in the vicinity of Mamalahoa Highway and Kaimu-Chain of Craters Road, on Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping and applying new striping and pavement markers.

KEAAU

Single lane closure on Keaau Pahoa Road (Route 130), possible in either direction near mile post 2.5, in the vicinity of Keaau Transfer Station, on Tuesday, April 7 to Wednesday, April 8 from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. for replacement of traffic detectors.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190), possible in either direction between mile post 0.0 to 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road on Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for installing new striping and turn pockets.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190), possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, on Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for installation of new striping.

 

DANIEL K INOUYE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 200) 

 

POHAKULOA

Single closure on Daniel K Inouye Highway (Route 190), possible in either direction with intermittent stops, between mile post 27 to 31, on Wednesday, April 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for maintenance work.

 HAWI ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

 

HAWI

Single lane closure on Hawi Road (Route 250), possible in either direction between mile post 19 to 19.2, in the vicinity of Akoni Pule Highway and Old Millstack Road, on Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for shoulder work and mechanical mowing.

PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

 

HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000), possible in either direction between mile post 0.5 to 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street,  on Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for repairing and painting asphalt curbs and direction arrows.
