Kona Patrol Officer Christopher Kim was recently named Officer of the Month for April 2026 by the Kona Crime Prevention Committee (KCPC).

Officer Kim was recognized for his actions on the morning of Oct. 28, 2025, a.m. when he saw an unresponsive man lying face down near the intersection of Palani Road and Kuakini Highway in Kailua-Kona. The 51-year-old man had a faint pulse and was gasping for air.

Officer Kim immediately requested medical assistance and began performing CPR. He also utilized an AED while awaiting the arrival of medics.

Medics arrived and continued life-saving efforts. Due to the swift actions taken by Officer Kim and assisting parties, the man’s condition stabilized prior to transport for further medical care.

The police department received multiple calls and emails from community members, medical personnel, and the Hawaiʻi County Fire Department noting that Officer Kim’s early intervention was critical to the victim’s survival.

A member of the 101st recruit class, Officer Kim has served in the Kona district since graduating to solo patrol in May 2025.
