Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of April 20

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of April 20, 2026. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

KANOELEHUA AVENUE/VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

 

HILO TO VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue to Volcano Road (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 0.0 to 36, in the vicinity of Banyan Drive, on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and pavement markers.

 

 VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

 

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 17 to 19, in the vicinity of Maka Hinu Street, on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for mulching vegetation.

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 17 to 21, on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 46 to 48, in the vicinity of Kapapala Road on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 63 to 64, in the vicinity of Kaalaiki Road, on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for tree trimming.

KEAUHOU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 114 to 115, in the vicinity of West Honalo Road and Puuloa Road, on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

 

KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

 

 

HONALO

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 109 to 118, in the vicinity of Koa Road and Judd Trail, on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and applying new striping and pavement markers.

 

HONALO

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 113.7 to 114, in the vicinity of West Honalo Road and Paul Road, on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for installation of speed humps and speed table.

 

HONALO TO KAILUA KONA

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 113.7 to 121.1, in the vicinity of Mamalahoa Highway and Palani Road, on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping.

 

KEAUHOU

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 114 to 115, in the vicinity of West Hanalo Road and Puuloa Road, on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

 

KAILUA KONA

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 119 to 121, in the vicinity of Kuakini Highway and Poni Place, on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for shoulder stabilization.

 

 

 HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)

PEPEEKEO MILL TO WAILEA (24/7 LANE CLOSURE)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 11.5 to 15, in the vicinity of Overpass Road and Chin Chuck Road, on Saturday, April 18 to Friday, April 24 for emergency road repairs. One lane open for alternating traffic.

NINOLE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 17.9 to 18.2, in the vicinity of Government Main Road, on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for work on Nanue Bridge.

 

PAPAALOA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 21 to 22, in the vicinity of Kaihuiki Road and Uweki Road, on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for tree trimming and shoulder work.

OOKALA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19), possible in either direction between mile post 29.8 to 32, in the vicinity of Kaawalii Road, on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for work on Kaholo Stream Bridge.

 KEAAU PAHOA ROAD/PAHOA KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

 

 

KEAAU TO KAIMU

Single lane closure on Keaau Pahoa Road to Pahoa Kalapana Road (Route 130), possible in either direction between mile post 0.0 to 21.8, in the vicinity of Mamalahoa Highway and Kaimu-Chain of Craters Road, on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping and applying new striping and pavement markers.

KEAAU

Single lane closure on Keaau Pahoa Road (Route 130), possible in either direction between mile post 1 to 2, in the vicinity of Pahoa Road, on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190), possible in either direction between mile post 0.0 to 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for installing new striping and turn pockets.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190), possible in either direction between mile post 9.5 to 10, on Tuesday, April 21 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for bridge inspection.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190), possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for installation of new striping.

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

 

KAPAAU

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250), possible in either direction between mile post 2 to 6, on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for shoulder work and vegetation cutting.

 AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) 

 

KAWAIHAE

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highjway (Route 270), possible in either direction between mile post 1.1 to 1.15, on Monday, April 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for bridge inspection.

 PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

 

HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000), possible in either direction between mile post 0.5 to 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for repairing and painting asphalt curbs and direction arrows.
