Today on the Big Island, there is testing at Old Kona Airport from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.  Individuals do not need a doctor’s order, as on-site medical professionals will do an assessment as to whether an individual meets the criteria for screening (contact with an infected person, travel in a high-risk area, symptoms of COVID-19).  If a person is appropriate to be tested, they will move on to medical professionals who will take the actual swab for testing.

As of 8:15 a.m., the number of cars in line was minimal.

Last Monday, there was a COVID-19 drive-through testing at Old Kona Airport.  The total number screened was 1,629, and those who were determined to be candidates for testing numbered 299.  Of those, according to Emergency Medical Nurse Lori Cannon, there were 4 positives, all of whom were college students returning from the mainland.

In Hilo, a one- day screening clinic for COVID-19 will be held at Hilo’s Ho`olulu Complex tomorrow, Sunday, Mar. 29,  from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
