The State Department of Health update at noon on Monday, Mar. 30, 2020:  Hawaii now has 204 confirmed cases of COVID-19, up 29 from Sunday.  Hawaii County’s case count stands at 15, with 3 new in the past 24 hours.

**Note–Hawaii County Civil Defense site says Hawaii County has 16 cases, and the county website notes their figures may not be the same as what DOH is reporting.

Of the 204 total, 165 are Hawaii residents.   DOH Director Bruce Anderson said there is sign of localized community transmission, though most cases are travel-related.   He said 4 cases for sure show no sign of travel  relation, but many cases are still under investigation.  He said as of today, 8,700 tests have been conducted, most by private laboratories.  He reinforced that social distancing requirements must be followed, and is the only thing we can do to prevent further transmission.

As of noon on Monday, the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 Dashboard reports that the United States has 160,000 cases, with 2,953 deaths.  There have been no known deaths from COVID-19 in Hawaii.

Hawaii statistics:

Total cases: 204 (29 new)
Hawai’i County: 15 (3)
Honolulu County: 139 (16)
Kaua’i County: 12 (0)
Maui County: 25 (5)
Pending: 11 (5) | HI residents diagnosed outside of HI: 2 (0)
Required Hospitalization: 12 (0)
Hawaii deaths: 0 (0)
Positive cases includes presumptive and confirmed cases, data are preliminary and subject to change; includes Hawaii residents and non-residents. Note that CDC provides case counts according to states of residence.
