Hawaii State Department of Health’s noon update on Tuesday, Mar. 31,  2020 says  there  have  been 20 new cases confirmed since Monday,  for a total of 224 total cases in the state.  Most of the new cases–18–and total cases — 157– are on O’ahu.

Since yesterday, one death has been confirmed as caused by COVID-19–the first in the state.

State DOH says Hawaii County had  zero new cases confirmed in the past 24 hours, so it remains at  a total of  15.    Four of the Hawaii County cases are non-residents, 11 are island residents.   At the Kona Old Airport COVID-19 testing last Saturday, health  officials said at their previous pop-up testing they’d had 4 cases confirmed in  returning college students.  But DOH is not releasing details about those who have it.

Officials say those confirmed positive must remain at home or their place of lodging in isolation.

There will be a media briefing today at 2:30, which may be seen at the facebook page of Gov. David  Ige.  Some local television stations either carry it (KHON2 usually) or stream it live at their web site.   The media briefings are also usually available at www.staradvertiser.com
