The Hawaii Island Humane Society Dog Park in mauka Kona has reopened.  The Dog Park was closed as the State and County ordered shutdowns of facilities where groups might gather and run the risk of passing COVID-19.

The Hawaii Island Humane Society’s new headquarters and the dog parks–one for big dogs, one for small–are on Mamalahoa Highway just south of the Department of Water Supply in Holualoa.  From Highway 11, go mauka on Ha’awina Street (north of Honalo, south of Kamehameha III Road) and then turn north on Mamalahoa Highway–it’s on the right.

The Park reopened Monday, and is asking people to practice the usual COVID-19 precautions–wear a mask, stay 6 feet from others.  Dogs are NOT required to wear masks.
