The Hawaii Island Food Basket will distribute food today at two sites, one in the morning and one in the afternoon:  Papa’aloa Community Center (starting at 10 a.m.), and at Honoka’a Sports Complex (starting at 1 p.m.).

The final pickup for this month is Tuesday, June 30, at Ka’u District Gym at 10 a.m.

Food Basket Executive Director Kristin Frost Albrecht asks those coming to have space in their trunk or back seat for the food.  National Guard troops and other volunteers will put the food into the vehicles.   Frost Albrecht also suggests that bringing a cooler for refrigerated items is a good idea. The food drop will go for two hours or until the food supply is depleted.

She says the Food Basket will continue to do the food drops until they’re no longer needed.
