An article in the journal Brain, published by Oxford University Press, says that an after-effect of having COVID-19 can be neurological or neuropsychiatric disorder.

Scientists and doctors at University College London found that delirium, brain inflammation, stroke and nerve damage may be present, even if the COVID-19 patient did not have severe respiratory symptoms.   The group studied was not large — 43 people, aged 16-85, treated at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, UCLH, who had either confirmed or suspected Covid-19.

Doctors involved in the study noted that COVID-19 has only been around for months, so long-term impacts cannot be known yet.

A summary of the study is published in the Medical Xpress, part of the  ScienceX News Service.

The article in Brain is here.
