One additional death Sunday evening at Yukio Okutsu

Hilo Medical Center has reported an additional death at the Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home Sunday evening.  The report came in around 7 p.m., following an earlier 3:30 release announcing one new death.  To date the island has suffered 26 known deaths from COVID-19, with 24 of them related to the Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home, and 2 at Hilo Medical Center unrelated to the Veterans Home outbreak.

As of 7 p.m. Sunday, there are 16 patients in Hilo Medical Center with COVID-19, including 5 in the Intensive Care Unit, 11 in the COVID Unit, and 1 in the Extended Care Facility.  All patients are isolated from those without COVID-19.  Five of the Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home residents are now hospitalized.

The Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home has 52 residents, 19 of whom are in the COVID-designated unit, with the 5 previously mentioned at Hilo Medical Center.
