Governor David Ige has just released $3 million in Capital Improvement Project (CIP) funds for work at Kealakehe High School.

Representative Nicole E. Lowen said the funds will be used for design and construction of an all-weather synthetic track for the school.

“This project has been a long time coming, and it’s great to see it finally moving forward. This will be big improvement for Kealakehe High School athletics, transforming the red cinder track to one that is competition-grade. I’m also grateful for the timing of this project and the jobs that it can provide in these challenging times,” said Representative Lowen (District 6, Kailua-Kona, Hōlualoa, Kalaoa, Honokōhau).

Lowen said in an email that the Department of Education will manage the project, and the next step is to have it go out to bid.
