State Representative Nicole Lowen says the state has a new program for displaced workers and recent graduates.
Using $5 million in CARES Act funds, the State has launched the Aloha Connects Innovation program to support displaced workers and recent high school and college graduates. This program will provide paid training and full- and part-time employment opportunities in various non-tourism sectors, including but not limited to clean energy, creative industries, healthcare, local food production, manufacturing, natural resource management, STEM fields, and more.
The program positions offer the following:
  • Paid on-the-job training until December 15th
  • Wages starting at $13-$15 an hour
  • Health care benefits
  • Workforce training and introduction and mentoring within the emerging, innovation sectors
  • Ideally, after the on-the-job training, individuals will be hired at the sites they are placed at or within the network of their organization, pursue careers in the emerging, innovation sector, or continue with higher education

Full-time or part-time interns will be paid through the program, and companies will also receive guidance from the program team and administrative assistance through Altres.

Visit edahawaii.org/aloha-connects-home for more information about the program and how you can apply as a participant or a host company.
