The Johns Hopkins COVID-19 Dashboard for Saturday, September 26, at 5:23 a.m.:

Worldwide cases:  32,626,165   Worldwide deaths: 990,134

U.S. cases: 7,040,313   U.S. deaths:  203,918

According to the Dashboard, the reported worldwide case report increased by 317,166 in the last 24 hours.  Deaths worldwide increased by  5,856.

According to the Johns Hopkins Dashboard, the United States has added 53,184 cases in the last 24 hours.  In that time,  the number of reported deaths from  COVID-19 increased by 903.

The United States has the most reported COVID-19 cases in the world.  The U.S. is followed by India, Brazil, Russia, Columbia, Peru, Mexico, Spain, and Argentina.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that in California, Dr. Mark Ghaluy ,the State Human Health Services Secretary, says that cases in the state have been on the decline, despite the state having the highest count in the nation now at 800,000 cases.  But, cases are starting to uptick after the Labor Day weekend, with more COVID-19-related emergency room visits.  That’s causing concern.

In Hawaii, the daily case count increases have declined in the last week.  The state’s total count is 11,891.   The Big Island has 691 total cases, with around 158 active.  The island has had 28 deaths, 26 related to the Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home.  On Friday, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation announced that the current provider, Avalon Healthcare, will be replaced by the East Hawaii Region of the HHSC, with Dan Brinkman, CEO, taking responsibility.
