Big Island adds one COVID death and 18 cases; state adds 110 cases

The Big Island has 18 new cases, as the state adds 110 new COVID-19 cases.  The total number of active cases in the state is approximately 2,309 .

The state is counting 163 of the deaths attributed to COVID-19 in its official records, but that only includes 15 from the Big Island.  This morning, Hawaii County Civil Defense reported the island has suffered 33 deaths, up one from Tuesday.  The Civil Defense agency did not identify where the latest death occurred, but it’s reportedly on the Hilo side of the island.  As of Tuesday, those who passed away from COVID-19 included  2 people at Life Care Center of Hilo, 3 community members at Hilo Medical Center, and 27 people who had been residents at the Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home.

With the Big Island 18 new cases, the island’s total is 852, with approximately  164 active.

Other islands’ total counts are below.  Today, in addition to the Big Island’s 18 new cases, there were 90 new on O’ahu and 1 on Maui, plus 1 in a Hawaii resident out of state.
