The Johns Hopkins COVID Dashboard for Sunday, December 6 at 5:26 a.m.:

Worldwide cases: 66,698,498      Worldwide deaths: 1,531,488

U.S. cases: 14,610,367   U.S. deaths: 281,347

According to the Dashboard, the reported worldwide case report increased by 617,047  in the last 24 hours.  Deaths worldwide increased by 9,458.

According to the Johns Hopkins Dashboard, the United States has added 213,923 cases in the last 24 hours.

In the last day,  the number of reported deaths in the U.S. from  COVID-19 increased by 2,094.

The COVID Tracking Project reports that 101,190 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 as of yesterday.   On the Big Island, Hawaii County Civil Defense reported yesterday that 2 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.

In good news, the State Department of Health is reporting that the state should receive a small shipment of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine once it is approved, as expected, on Dec. 10.  The vaccine is going to be distributed nationwide based on the prevalence of COVID-19 and the state population.  This past week, Queen’s Medical Center practiced receiving a container of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, which must be shipped and maintained at a super cold temperature — minus 90 degrees Fahrenheit.  The State DOH has said the priority for getting any vaccine will be front line health care workers and those living in senior living facilities.
